Exploring Modernization of the Global South from China's Chongqing

On June 18, the International Symposium on the Global Significance of Chinese Modernization was held at the WCICO in Chongqing, with over 200 Chinese and international guests from 11 countries in attendance. The event brought together participants to explore mutual learning and development among Global South nations, with a particular focus on Chongqing's practice of Chinese modernization. At the symposium, the 2026 key research topics were unveiled, an expert committee comprising over 20 Chinese and international scholars was established, and the international observation column Global Vision was simultaneously launched. The participating experts reached a consensus that Chinese modernization is not a one-size-fits-all answer, but rather a platform for dialogue and mutual learning among civilizations.
