Yue-Sai Kan is hailed as the pioneer who “helped the world understand China and China understand the world.” In the 1970s, her groundbreaking series Looking East became the first American television program to systematically introduce Chinese and Asian cultures to U.S. audiences. In the 1980s, invited by China Central Television (CCTV), she created and hosted Around the World, China’s first television travel series, which opened a window to the globe for millions of Chinese viewers.
